Faithia Zenabu Williams married Saidi (also known as Saheed Balogun in Lagos on September 7, 2000. When Saheed Balogun married Fathia, who had just recently begun her career in Nollywood, he already had 22 years of acting experience under his belt.
Saidi had already married Sherifat (Serifat) Balogun, and this was her second marriage. Zinnat and Jamal, their two children, were born to them. It was not Fathia’s first marriage, according to certain reports. Her first husband’s identity is unknown, but she did have a daughter with him.
The pair appeared calm and peaceful for the first few years. Khalid, the couple’s first child, was born on July 11, 2002. Their daughter Aaliyah was born on April 3, 2005, after several years of marriage. Everything appeared to be in order.
But that was not the case: Fathia and Saheed abruptly split in March 2006.
Nobody knows for sure what happened to this day. Some think Fathia was having an affair with Saheed, while others say it was the other way around. Some even go so far as to claim that they were both unfaithful in the past.
But here’s the catch:
Even though they had ceased living together in 2006, they did not divorce until 2014. For years, the estranged couple was frequently in the news due to another disagreement.
Even though he was still married to his wife, there were rumors that Saheed married another woman. It’s hardly unexpected, though, because Saheed is a Muslim. During the time between the split and the divorce, many media outlets stated that Saidi was dating Funke Adesiyan and Funke Elegushi.
Someone created another rumor in 2014, this time claiming Fathia and Saheed were reuniting. Faithia did not refute them, claiming in one of her interviews that she was still Saidi’s wife technically. Nonetheless, Saheed came out and definitively disproved them, therefore ending any prospect of them reuniting.
The couple’s divorce papers were leaked to the media not long after. It was discovered that Saheed had filed for divorce in April of 2013. Judge O.O. Atilade ultimately signed the petition for divorce on January 17, 2014, ending Faithia and Saidi’s marriage. The latter was granted the right to visit his children at any time.
